FR03 and FR6: High‑Performance Lithium Iron Disulfide Batteries – A Reliable Alternative to Alkaline Batteries



With the new FR03 (AAA) and FR6 (AA) primary Batteries, Jauch introduces two high‑performance Lithium Iron(II) Disulfide Cells (Li/FeS₂) designed as a reliable alternative to conventional Alkaline Batteries. The new Cells combine high energy density with a stable voltage profile and are ideally suited for high‑drain applications in industrial environments, measurement technology, and mobile electronics.

The FR Cells (Lithium Iron Disulfide cylindrical cells) offer several key advantages over conventional LR Cells (Alkaline cylindrical cells) – including long operating life, extended shelf life, and reliable performance even under challenging environmental conditions. This makes them particularly well suited for devices with long service intervals or irregular usage patterns.

Optimized for Long‑Lasting and Reliable Applications

The FR03 and FR6 deliver a stable nominal voltage of 1.5 V and feature a flat discharge profile. Compared to alkaline‑manganese Batteries, the output voltage remains consistent even under load, ensuring reliable operation of sensitive electronic devices.
In addition, Li/FeS₂ Cells provide high performance under demanding environmental conditions. Low internal resistance enables high pulse currents, while the wide operating temperature range supports use in outdoor applications and industrial environments. Both cell types are designed for operating temperatures from –40 °C to +60 °C. 

Long Shelf Life and Verified Transport Safety

Thanks to optimized cell chemistry, the Batteries achieve a long Shelf Life combined with very low self‑discharge. For users, this translates into high planning reliability and reduced spare‑parts inventory.
In addition, the FR03 and FR6 meet the requirements of UN 38.3 transport testing and are therefore qualified for safe international shipping.
